Today is a semi-exciting day. Exactly 4 years ago today, I rocked up to one of my college lectures and was told that I’d have to start a blog and maintain it for 8 weeks. It’s something I had thought about starting but just hadn’t done it so I decided to take advantage of the mandatory task and run with it. 4 years later and we’re still going strong.
The last year has definitely been my most successful on Gilroy’s World. I finally achieved one of my goals since taking this seriously and made the finals of the Irish Blog Awards. Although I didn’t come away with more than a goody bag and a hangover, it was the first real progress I feel I’ve made with the blog.
That nomination changed a lot on the blog, I’ve seen my average reader numbers nearly double from a minuscule number of readers to a slightly less minuscule number of readers. All progress is good progress I guess.
I want 2019 to be my biggest year yet because I feel like once I hit year 5, I’m teetering into veteran blogger territory with rookie numbers and that freaks me the fuck out. Don’t get me wrong, I’m extremely proud of what I’m doing here and I’m incredibly grateful for everyone who does take time out of their day to read my ramblings.

The support I’ve received on this over the last 4 years has been overwhelming, more so in the last year and especially since the awards. I can’t really put it into words (ironically enough) how much I appreciate everyone who does read/share/comment on my stuff.
The fact that I’m closing in on 5 years is absolutely insane. 2019 is going to be all about growing on what I’ve achieved so far and
