Last night I finally got to see Marvel’s newest movie, Black Panther. I can’t remember the last time there was this much hype around a superhero movie. Before I even bought my ticket, I knew this movie was going to be great! Simply, the movie revolves around T’Challa as he deals with becoming the new king of Wakanda (a fictional African country) after the death of his father. With his new title of king, also comes the responsibility of being the Black Panther (great power, great responsibility and all that).
Black Panther is a really fun movie, there are plenty of genuine laugh-out-loud moments here. There’s so much I want to say but I really think this movie is best experienced as blindly as possible. I’m actually surprised I lasted a whole week without any spoilers.
I will that Michael B. Jordan and Letitia Wright absolutely steal the show as Erik Killmonger and Shuri. Marvel have made a former Human Torch into something spectacular for a second time with Michael B. Jordan. This is the first time in a long time that Marvel has nailed its main villain.
I can completely understand why there’s so much hype around this movie. Everything from the visuals to the music just works in the movie. It’s also a really great celebration of African culture, something that’s been well needed with a while.
The soundtrack for this movie was produced by Kendrick Lamar and is 100% one of the best movie soundtracks I’ve ever heard. It’s very rare that a movie that isn’t a musical comes out with a soundtrack with genuine hits on it. With artists such as The Weeknd, Kendrick, and SZA, it was bound to be a hit. “All The Stars” and “King’s Dead” are standouts on the soundtrack.
This review absolutely does not do Black Panther justice, go see this movie for yourself. It’s like Lion King if it was a superhero movie. I’m very excited about where Marvel goes from here with Black Panther. This movie has also like tripled my excitement for Avengers: Infinity War!
Until next time,
