Drinking Loads Of Water And Feeling Class

I know what you’re thinking. “Another blogger harping on about how great water is.” It’s cliché as fuck but hear me out (just like all the other ones). I’m going to skip over the obvious health benefits that everyone already knows about water. Clear skin and healthy organs, grand. I don’t want this to be too long of a read so I’m just going to go into my relationship with drinking lots of water. If ‘relationship’ is even the right word (I don’t think it is…).

I’ve been trying to drink between 3 and 4 litres of water a day this year and it’s probably the best decision I’ve ever made. Now, admittedly I haven’t been able to stick to this every single day. I find it easiest when I spread my intake out over the day. So in the morning, I try to drink around a litre to start my day as fresh as possible. Then when I’m at work I try to go through at least 2 litres before having another litre in the afternoon.

The benefits I’ve seen since I’ve started this are massive. I’m not a coffee drinker so I can’t use that to wake myself up if I’m feeling sluggish. Water is the perfect alternative for this. I can’t even count how many times water has saved me on a low energy day.

As someone who enjoys to game and is very partial to the odd all night session. I used to rely heavily on energy drinks such as Red Bull and Monster Energy. Ice cold water is a perfect alternative to these. I find with water, I can get a much longer kick than I would with energy drinks. You also don’t get the manky feeling on your teeth from water. Of course, the obvious advantage of water over sugary drinks is the elimination of a sugar crash which is another bonus.

Another reason to love water is that it can be an absolute lifesaver after a night out. I can’t even tell you how many times a cold glass of water has pulled me from the depths of the fear after one too many vodkas. It can also aid in preventing a hangover full stop if you alternate it with alcohol when out. One pint of beer, one pint of water, rinse and repeat.

While cold water is great, boiling water also has heaps of benefits. A cup of warm water with a slice of lemon is an absolute gamechanger. Everyone talks about these amazing detox teas and how they’ll change your life. Bollocks, just boil the kettle and throw a wedge of lemon into a cup. You’ll feel amazing afterward and it’s super good for you!

Someone told me recently about how we clean everything with warm water so why not out insides? This has stuck with me way more than it probably should but it’s very true. You don’t clean your dishes with cold water and unless your an absolute maniac, you don’t only shower with cold water.

Okay I’m pretty bored with writing about water now. Don’t sleep on the benefits of a good bottle of water. IT WILL CHANGE YOUR LIFE.
